    Jorge Fernández-Berni received the B. Eng. degree (Hons.) in Electronics and Telecommunication, the M.Sc. degree (Hons.) in Microelectronics, and the Ph.D. degree (Hons.) from the University of Seville, Sevilla, Spain, in 2004, 2008, and 2011, respectively. From 2005 to 2006, he was with Telecommunication Industry. He has been a Visiting Researcher with the Computer and Automation Research Institute, Budapest, Hungary, Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium, the University of Notre-Dame, Notre- Dame, IN, USA, and Université Clermont Auvergne, Clermont-Ferrand, France. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics and Electromagnetism, University of Seville. He has authored or co-authored some 60 papers in refereed journals, conferences, and workshops. He is also the first author of a book and two book chapters, and the first inventor of two licensed patents. His current research interests include vision chips and embedded vision systems. He received the Best Paper Award in image sensors and imaging systems, SPIE Electronic Imaging, San Francisco, CA, USA, in 2014, and the Third Prize of the Student Paper Award in the IEEE CNNA 2010: 12th International Workshop on Cellular Nanoscale Networks and their Applications, Berkeley, CA, USA.
