Biography
Elia A. Vallicelli received his PhD in Physics and Astronomy in 2021 at the University of Milano – Bicocca, Italy. He is currently a post-doc researcher in Physics and Microelectronics within the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), section of Milano – Bicocca, Italy. His main research interests are in the fields of medical physics, ionoacoustic particle range verification, photoacoustic imaging and neuron-silicon interfaces. He is responsible of different work packages within the INFN Proton Sound Detector project (ProSD) and he develops low noise electronics, ultrasound sensors and FPGA based real-time systems. He collaborates with several national research projects. He received the Gold Leaf Award at the IEEE PRIME 2019 conference and the Best Student Paper Award at BIODEVICES 2021 conference. He is the co-founder and team leader of the paMELA (Photoacoustic Melanoma Detector) project for early-stage melanoma diagnosis.
