    Ney Calazans received a Ph.D. degree in Applied Sciences (Microelectronics) in 1993, from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), in Belgium, and the degrees of Computer Science M.Sc. and Electrical Engineering (B.E.E) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, in 1988 and 1985, respectively. He is currently a Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). His research interests include non-synchronous circuit design and implementation, intrachip communication networks, and electronic design automation techniques and tools. Professor Calazans is Senior Member of the IEEE, Member of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), and Member of the Brazilian Society of Microelectronics (SBMICRO). In the period from August 2014 to July 2015 he spent a sabbatical year at the University of Southern California, working with Prof. Peter Beerel´s research group.
