    Abstract

The interest towards innovative principles for MEMS gyroscopes requires the development of integrated circuit solutions that preserve their stability and noise. This work presents a full-digital output ASIC for Lissajous FM gyroscopes, an operation mode where the angular rate content is transduced into a dual frequency information, and then further modulated in amplitude to bypass temperature drifts of the frequency. The ASIC includes the core oscillators, two frequency-to-digital converters, a novel concept for the demodulation reference extraction, and the entire digital processing, including AM demodulators, filtering and resampling. The ASIC is coupled to a gyroscope and its operation is demonstrated.
