    Abstract

This paper outlines the design of a colorimetric sensing system for the detection of neurotransmitters in solution based on functionalized ultrastable gold nanoparticles and using a multi-technologies architecture. This architecture includes an optical layout for the spectral analysis of the sample, a microfluidics system for the sampling, mixing and handling of liquid samples as well as an electronic architecture for the control of all sub-systems as well as the analysis of data. This system shows promising results for the detection of neurotransmitters and can be improved further by integrating the electronics sub-system using a Risk-V architecture.
