    A graduate of ENS Cachan, Professor Emeritus of the University of Rennes 1 and Supélec since 2013, he is a specialist in microelectronics. He has created DESS, engineering modules and masters in microelectronics in Rennes and abroad. He created and directed from 1985 to 2011 the Microelectronics Group Laboratory which evolved into a URA, UPRESA, and then a department of the IETR UMR 6164. After having co-directed and then directed the CCMO (CNFM center in the West) from 1985 to 2010, he took over the direction of the GIP-CNFM. Involved in 64 research contracts, he has published 580 articles in journals or proceedings, including 150 of a pedagogical nature, is co-author of 3 patents, 6 scientific books and author of 2 pedagogical books (Ellipse). He has been an expert for CNRS, ANR, ANRT, MAE, AERES, MESR and EGIDE, and since 2020 for the Strategic Committee of the inter-field (Automotive and Electronics). He chaired the CNU 63rd section from 2003 to 2007. He was the coordinator of the PIA-IDEFI-FINMINA project (Innovative Training in Microelectronics and Nanotechnologies) from 2012 to 2019.
