Alper Kanak, PHD, received his BS from İstanbul Technical University, MS from Koc University, and PHD from Gebze Technical University all with honor degree in 2001, 2004 and 2013, respectively. He worked in TUBITAK as a chief researcher for 12 years since 2003 and consulted as the EU Projects Programme Manager between 2012 and 2015. He is now with ERARGE as the R&D director and coordinates or co-coordinates projects. He published more than 25 papers in top journals and conferences in the fields of privacysecurity-trust models, biometric security, speech and language technologies, semantic web, smart city, ontology design and image/video processing. He has a great expertise in EU projects and holds the Turkey’s highest score ever in FP7 and H2020 projects (MULTISAUND (15/15)). He has also contributed to Turkey’s ICT strategies as the national representative. Dr Kanak is still lecturing graduate courses on advanced topics of computer vision in Gebze Technical University, Turkey.
