Biography
Biresaw Demelash Abera obtained a bachelor’s degree in Food Technology and Food Process Engineering from Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia (2012), and a master’s degree in Food Engineering from the University of Salerno, Italy (2017). His MSc project was on the extraction of valuable compounds from microalgae using a pulsed electric field and high-pressure homogenization. Now he is conducting a PhD in Food Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Bolzano-Bozen (sensing technologies laboratory). He is doing the research work entitled “Development of different kinds of biosensors which are modified with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) to detect food toxicants, such as mycotoxin (aflatoxin M1(AFM1) and ochratoxin A (OTA) from different food sources, heavy metal from fish and antibiotic residues from meat and dairy products”. He has published several scientific papers in different international journals.
