    Reza Hashemian - Received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Tehran University, Iran in1960 and the M.S. and Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI in 1965 and 1968. He joined Northern Illinois University in 1987, and became a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1996, where he taught and did research on analog circuit design, digital designs with FPGAs, and image processing and compressions. He retired in June 2018 and currently is holding an emeritus professorship. Earlier Dr. Hashemian has served as the director of research and industrial liaison at Sharif University of Technology, Iran (1983, 84). He is one of the founders of the Materials and Energy Research Center (MERC) in Iran and has served as the associate director and then director of MERC for eight years (1971 –80). He has worked in industry for six plus years, including Signetics, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA (1984 – 87), and in Texas Instruments, Inc., Dallas, Texas. Dr. Hashemian is an Ex-holder of professional licensee in Engineering from the state of Illinois. He is a life senior member of the IEEE and a member of the first executive committee of the IEEE in Iran (Iran Section) from1970 to1972.
