Abstract
A significant challenge nowadays is optimizing the power consumption of Systems-on-Chips (SoC) while improving performance. At the same time, the analysis of instructions used in microprocessors brings about the development of RISC machines. By doing reserve engineering of an old microprocessor, it is possible to get other architecture options that inspire alternative architecture solutions. Dedicated modules like hardware accelerators are excellent approaches to reducing power and improving performance. The reverse engineering of old microprocessors, designed by hand, also shows attractive physical design solutions that also inspire new physical design strategies that can reduce power reduction and improve performance.
