    Abstract

In this paper, multiple power supply system for the Type-C USB power delivery (PD) chip is presented. It can provide a reliable VDD-INT internal power rail for the PD chip from a VBAT battery source of 2.7-5.5V or a VBUS source of 4-20V with seamless transition between them. VBAT will be the primary source whenever it is available and VBUS will act as source when VBAT doesn’t exist or goes away. The implemented power system in 0.14um CMOS technology delivers up to 30mA of current from each of the VBAT or VBUS sources and takes a die area of 0.308mm2. The VBAT control circuit consumes 10uA of current from VBAT while VBUS control circuit consumes 400uA of current from VBUS to provide VDD-INT.
