    Abstract

Efficient diagnostic technology is a key part of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Testing is associated with severe delays which may cause long periods of self-isolation during the waiting time and insecurities in public places. At ProtonDx, we aim to deliver rapid, accurate, handheld and low-cost diagnostics where you need it the most without the need for a lab or trained personnel. Paired with smart cartridges, our Lacewing platform is able to detect a panel of respiratory pathogens including SARS-CoV-2, provide results to a smartphone in under 30 minutes and synchronise the data on a cloud server for real-time surveillance of the epidemics. We are in the process of establishing our supply chain, scaling up production and seeking regulatory approvals through clinical trials in the UK. We will then deploy our state-of-the-art technology in hospitals and clinical practises, but also in schools, universities and workplaces, working towards deployment in the home and playing an active part in the world’s response to the pandemic and all infectious diseases.
