High concentration of oil and grease produced from gas and oil operations have been considered as a crucial problem facing aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, the development of functional materials for efficient removal of oil from oil/water emulsion is imperative. In the present study, a low cost and high efficient 3D printed lab-on chip (LOC) device based on Polyethersulfone (PES) membranes is proposed for oil droplets removal from water/oil emulsion. First, isotropic and anisotropic PES membranes are prepared by induced phase separation method. The fabricated membranes are characterized in terms of morphology, porosity, pore size and hydrophilicity through contact angle (CA) measurement. Next, the device model will be designed and printed by fused deposition molding (FDM) printer. The filtrate will be characterized regarding the drop size distribution and chemical oxygen demand to evaluate the efficacy of the fabricated devices.
