Abstract
This work reports a modified regulated cascode(RGC) transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with tolerance to ultra-high photodiode capacitances encountered in visible light communication systems. The design principle of the proposed RGC is introduced, then its bandwidth advantage is demonstrated using discrete devices constructed on a printed circuit board (PCB). Measurements show that using the modified RGC TIAresults in a bandwidth improvement of over 200% over the conventional design, achieving a bandwidth of 200 MHz at 2 KΩ trasimpedance gain with a 300 pF photodiode capacitance
