Abstract
Myoelectric hand prostheses aim to mimic the movements of the human hand. However, there is currently no cost-effective system to compare the performance of various prosthesis controllers. To address this need, we developed a low-cost myoelectric system on an Arduino platform and implemented two methods of prosthesis control. The proposed system was validated in real-time experiments with a commercial prosthesis. We show that the real-time control of the prosthesis with both controllers is feasible. This study takes an important step towards the promotion of home-based prosthetic experiments.
