    Abstract

This lecture reviews the growing area of Analog Computation, and its energy and area efficient computing opportunities. The lecture will discuss a short history of analog computation and its potential promises. The discussion will continue towards the analog IC design issues around analog computation, particularly considering the importance of programmable analog techniques. These discussions will continue to looking at potential tool aspects, abstraction, numerics, and architectures that arise for analog computing, as well as potential physical platforms for implementing these techniques (e.g. FPAAs).
