    Abstract

    The slow and semi-static world of technology adoption in automotive is a view of the past. Consumer product innovations are changing automotive customer expectations coupled with accelerated adoption of electric vehicles, autonomous driving etc. This requires the automotive industry to rethink and redefine vehicle development and E/E architectures. The modern auto must evolve architectures to enable new features using constant Over The Air software updates, flawless connectivity, flexible high performance compute, and high security, all of which rely on enhanced architectures to provide adequate uptime, compute, latency and power.

    To achieve these goals, the electronic architectures must seamlessly integrate elements of electrification, autonomy, connectivity and security. High performance computing solutions must utilize best in class power efficiency to deliver the maximum capability of each element, along with the ability to scale and integrate software offerings. Therefore, semiconductor suppliers must provide compact, pre-integrated, optimized and easy-to-use solution combinations that include software, digital, analog, and power devices. These combinations must be designed and validated together to deliver the highest overall system performance at lowest power dissipation possible. Many new emerging players in automotive will significantly benefit from completely validated solutions from semiconductor suppliers.

    Renesas has anticipated this market mega trend and has been evolving its technology offering over the past 5 years. Our acquisitions and focused investments have created an expansive solution portfolio in xEV, ADAS/AD and Cloud Connectivity segments. To complete our system platform solutions with complex compute and integrated analog and power, we are also constantly pushing for an innovative “SW First” methodology with enhanced focus on flexible SW tooling and agile infrastructure. This keynote and presentation will review and analyze several elements which we believe are key foundations for future success.
