Abstract
This paper presents a novel circuit design strategy for the implementation of the biophysically realistic Hodgkin-Huxley neuron dynamics by means of weakly-inverted MOS blocks. The design relies on the linear combination of transistor-level realisable elemental functions into Dirac sequences which allows for the practical implementation of current sources modelling the non-linear conductances of the prototype Hodgkin-Huxley dynamics. The adopted strategy is detailed and comparative results between the theoretical and the realisable dynamics confirm the feasibility of the presented method for the generation of \\textit{exact} Hodgkin-Huxley dynamics by means of practical weakly-inverted blocks.
